What this site is, how the data is sourced, and what it isn't.
Kurtaxe Check tracks the visitor's tax (Kurtaxe / taxe de séjour) rate and short-term rental rules for a set of Swiss tourist communes, chosen because they cover the large majority of short-term rental and hotel activity in the country. It currently tracks 18 communes: 13 with a confirmed, sourced rate, and 5 still marked pending because no source reliable enough to publish has been confirmed yet.
Each commune's entry links directly to the page it was taken from — usually the commune's own regulation, tourism-office page, or a maintained aggregator of those documents. Nothing is estimated or interpolated: a commune without a confirmed source shows "Verification pending" rather than a guessed number.
A scheduled process re-visits each commune's source page on a weekly basis and re-extracts the rate, exemptions, and short-term-rental rule. A field is only overwritten if the process actually found a value on the page; if a page is unreachable or silent on tax information for that run, the existing figure is left untouched rather than replaced with a guess. Data was last refreshed on 2026-09-09.
This is an independent reference site, not an official publication of any Swiss commune, canton, or tourism office, and not tax or legal advice. Municipal rules can change faster than the weekly refresh — always confirm the current figure directly with the commune before pricing a listing or filing a return.
This currently covers 18 of Switzerland's roughly 2,100 communes. If yours isn't listed, get in touch and it will be added once a reliable source is confirmed for it.
